Car thieves have stolen a car parked unlocked with a baby inside. Owner of the car, the child’s mother was said to have gone to pick up a takeaway.Speqaking with police, the woman said she had parked in a disabled space at the Chipotle restaurant in Fontana, California, on Tuesday afternoon with her sleeping baby in the car.
She left the air conditioning running while she went inside to pick up her order.
Officials report that a man who was at a table inside the restaurant on Sierra Ave allegedly jumped inside the car and drove off, officials said. The mother reportedly ran after him screaming to him to give her the baby back.
According to a witness who spoke with police officers, the man fled with the baby in his arms and ran up a nearby hill. He was later found with the child, who was unharmed.
Police confirmed Agabosi Christopher Tanpinu was arrested.
