Kenneka Jenkins’ Family Lawyer Says Video Footage Doesn’t Prove She Walked Into Freezer

The lawyer representing Kenneka Jenkins’ family on Friday said no video footage was received from police showing the deceased walking into the freezer,Chicago Tribune reports.

“Despite requests for all evidence, we have received only snippets of video, none of which shows Kenneka Jenkins walking into a freezer,” Larry Rogers Jr. said in a statement. “Serious questions remain as to how she ended up in a Crowne Plaza Hotel freezer and why it took a day and a half for the hotel to find Kenneka.”

According to a video received by Rosemont police, Kenneka Jenkins was seen staggering alone through a deserted hotel kitchen and disappearing around a corner.

The video did not however show her entering the walk-in-freezer. It also showed that no one else came into that area until her body was found.

Larry Rogers Jr. and Sam Adam Jr.,  Jenkins’ family attorneys, said at a news conference Friday afternoon that they will conduct their own investigation and perhaps seek a second autopsy.

The hotel “never checked. They never searched, they never did anything while a young, 19-year-old disoriented girl was sitting in their freezer,” Adam said. “Now there has to be an answer to how that happened. Better yet, there has to be an answer to why that happened.”
