An elderly woman has been beaten to death by her own son in Alexandria and this evil act has since sparked an outrage in Egypt, with many calling for severe punishment to her son.
81-year-old Zeinab as-Sayyid Mahfouz, was said to have been beaten to death by her son just to please his wife who had complained about her.
The son was said to have abandoned her after beating her bleeding while he went out to dinner with his wife.
Zeinab’s blood which seeped through the door alerted her neighbours who immediately rushed her to the clinic but later died from her injuries.
Upon learning of what happened, the son and his wife reportedly tried to flee but were caught. He has since confessed to the crime.
