OAU ‘sex for marks’ ;lecturer sentenced to 2-years imprisonment

Professor Richard Akindele, a former lecturer at OAU who was tried for demanding sex for marks from a female student of the university, has been sentenced to 2-years imprisonment.

Justice Maureen Onyetenu of the Federal High Court in Oshogbo, Osun state sentenced the Professor to 2 years in prison for demanding sex to pass one of his students, Monica Osagie. 

Akindele was first arraigned in court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on November 19th on a three count charge bothering on “using his position as a lecturer in the Department of Management and Accounting to demand for sexual benefit from a student and fraudulently upgrade her result in Research Method course which she supposedly failed in 2017”.  He initially pleaded not guilty.

On Monday morning, he plead guilty to all the charges.

 The court has sentenced him to 2-years in prison.
