Doctors have been left confused due to case of a 21-year-old woman who was brought into the hospital due to an extreme rare condition that makes her sweat blood from her face and the palms of her hands.
Italian doctors are at a loss as she shows no sign of skin lesions.
The young woman bleeds whenever she engages in any physical activity and the sweating becomes intense when she is stressed.
According to Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) she has suffered the unusual symptoms for the past three years and episodes last between one and five minutes
Doctors ruled out that she wasn’t faking it and tests revealed her blood count and blood-clotting functions were normal.
Doctors finally diagnosed her with hematohidrosis, which is thought to affect just one in 10 million people and was treated with propranolol – a beta-blocker medication which reduced her symptoms but not completely.
