63-Year Old Halimah Yacob Declared President Elect Of Singapore

63-year old Halimah Yacob has been declared the 8th Singaporian president on Wednesday. This declaratio was made after a “walkover” election that had no vote ad o other contenders showing up for election.
Yacob, who held a very importat postion as a speaker of parlimet in the country was cosidered the only eligible person to stand in the country’s Elections Department.

Salleh Marican and Farid Khan, the other cotenders were declared ineligeble having fallen short of a constitutional rule that required any candidate from the private sector to have led a company with shareholder equity of at least 500 million Singapore dollars (372 million dollars).

Yacob via a speech after been declared presidnet thanked her supporters  calling it a “a proud moment for Singapore, for multiculturalism and multi-racialism.”
